Atelier introduces Stroud to Saori freestyle weaving

This Autumn, Atelier is pleased to be offering workshops by “Wayward Weaves”, a new teaching studio in Stroud.

Saori is a form of weaving from Japan that encourages improvisation and free expression. The techniques are easy to learn and most people can start to create their own unique textiles within minutes! Saori was developed in Japan in the late 1950’s and is now spreading amongst textile enthusiasts across the world. Your tutor, Nicola Builder, is one of a handful of certified Saori instructors in Europe. After discovering Saori in 1996, Nicola has studied with instructors in the US and Japan and is delighted to be able to bring this fun and expressive craft to the UK.

All materials are provided. You will have your own loom to work on and are welcome to bring your own yarns, ribbons etc to make your weaving even more personal.

Workshops on the 8th and 13th October.
